Words: 200 (yes, really 😉), complete, but there are related follow up one shots

Characters: Severus, Hermione

Severus, sufficiently mannered to refill a lady's empty cup, has patiently suffered Hermione's teasing as to his choice in porcelain. 'Flowered! Seriously? Flowered!' On the whole, he finds her company more than compensates for the occasional not so 'bon' bonmot, and it leaves him largely unfazed. He could hardly settle for a Muggle mug after all. The choices in patterns alone. How would he ever decide? **

Of course, when she proceeds to suggest a simple... deflowering might help matters some, she has his full attention...

Hermione could hardly have failed to notice the floral pattern, and had he truly meant her to, there was always a Notice-Me-Not. Were she just that teeny tiny bit more observant, however, she'd realise he's nicked borrowed a cup from Professor Trelawney and perhaps wonder why. But then that's what comes of walking out on class third year...

One might surmise Severus had availed himself of Sybill's crockery for the express purpose of providing himself with just such an opening. Not that he'd ever have expected Hermione to beat him to the punch, but gift horses... Hmm. To overlook such an opportunity once presented seems frankly churlish.

A/N: ** Of course there's always TOBLASS's inspired idea - 'Tea and Toast' on AO3...

This continues in 'the tea drabble 2' (LJ / DW).

Too many mugs, too little shelf space. I feel your pain, Severus!

[identity profile] gingerbred.livejournal.com 2019-06-23 11:06 am (UTC)(link)
At least he hasn't got a partner putting a moratorium on new mugs and tea like some kind of modern suburban despot... 😉 (Although there might be some legitimacy to both, were I inclined to be fair... 😆)

[identity profile] mywitch.livejournal.com 2019-06-24 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
I agree there should be limits - but but but!!! I NEED all the mugs!

[identity profile] gingerbred.livejournal.com 2019-06-24 12:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I understand your needs. Goodness knows, I have similar issues... lol

See the answer to grooot below. No idea if it's true or just someone making a meme from a Home Improvement post, but man do I wish it were so. Today.com had a story on it, complete with pics of some of her frog mugs... lol So fitting. You have to kiss a lot of frogs...

Lolol!

*whispers* I have too many mugs too

[identity profile] gingerbred.livejournal.com 2019-06-24 12:10 pm (UTC)(link)
This made my cold, cold (mug hoarding) heart go pitter-pat.

[identity profile] gingerbred.livejournal.com 2019-06-25 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
No idea how they'll dust them, but the thing looks rad.

[identity profile] too-dle-oo.livejournal.com 2019-06-26 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
Honestly, I think of dusting when I buy stuff. 'Do I want to clean this?' I ask myself. The answer is always no. 'Am I willing to clean this?'

Now THAT is where the rubber hits the road.

Claire Norcross had this rather inspired hedgehoggy-like lamp made of cable ties that I coveted for quite some time, but the bottom line was always: think of the dust! Apparently that is *so much* my go to response that hubs now says it preemptively when we're looking at things just to tease me.

[identity profile] too-dle-oo.livejournal.com 2019-06-26 02:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I KNOW THAT LAMP. It's gorgeous! But... no, I'd never want to have to clean it on the regular. I suppose I'd consider if I had a telescoping duster, or if I knew that I could take a handheld vacuum to it, but... otherwise? No, thank you.

[identity profile] gingerbred.livejournal.com 2019-06-26 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'd sit there telling myself it could be showered, but who knows if the colour dipped tips would have survived... Nope. (Staubfänger) *nods*

[identity profile] too-dle-oo.livejournal.com 2019-06-26 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Have you seen her envelope lamps?

Image

GORGEOUS, but also complete and total Staubfänger!

[identity profile] gingerbred.livejournal.com 2019-06-27 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh that *is* nice. I don't think I've seen those before. (Paper and lighting both tend to stick with me, so the combination...) The one on the right is downright sexy. I wonder if you could make something tall out of it... Hrm...

Of course, as paper lamps go, my very favourite is Luisa de los Santos-Robinson'a Dragon's Tail Lamp series. The hanging lamps are magical, and the floor lamp... Oh, I've drooled over that. (Dustcatchers, absolutely, but so incredibly beautiful.) (Want.)

HOLY MOLY.

Those are gorgeous,

But yeah... dusting those wouldn't be fun.

[identity profile] too-dle-oo.livejournal.com 2019-06-25 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
THIS: not so 'bon' bonmot.

I LOVE THIS.

😃 Thanks!

Mmmm... That box of Messmer Elderberry Cherry in the lower right corner looks like it would be delicious. I'm guessing Severus and Hermione are out to Meserize each other. And, of course, Hermione is first horse out the gate with her suggesion that a simple deflowering might in order. Perhaps. They are off to a good start!

I swear, that was the tea I was most looking forward to and then it was such a disappointment. We installed a water softening system last autumn, and there's a chance the extra salt in the water is the problem. I've reserved a couple of tea bags, and mean to try them with bottled water.

But the orange was better than expected, and the strawberry cheesecake (which I couldn't really picture being good) I really enjoyed. I re-upped my teas yesterday and bought two each of both of those.

Hermione is clever that way. 😉 Good eye on the witch. She may occasionally be awkward, but she has pretty decent situational awareness. And determined, once she sets her mind to a thing.

Thanks! 😊
